The court made a mistake and did the wrong thing by removing Mr. Spears from office and appointing a stranger to manage Britney's estate in his place. Thus, the court extended the guardianship, which Britney asked to terminate this summer. Again, it was Mr. Spears who took the initiative to file a petition to terminate custody when neither Britney's former court-appointed lawyer nor her new privately hired lawyer did so.
