A mermaid dog appeared in IKEA. The toy was invented by a schoolboy from St. Petersburg
A collection of soft toys "Sagoskatt", created according to sketches of children from different countries, has appeared in Russian IKEA stores. Among the five new characters was a mermaid dog. It was invented and drawn by 10-year-old Savva Zarubin from St. Petersburg.
My mermaid dog lives in the sea and helps people and animals in trouble. I love the sea and I believe that such a creature may well live there!
- said Savva, who is engaged in the children's design center of the St. Petersburg City Palace of Youth Creativity.
In March last year, IKEA selected five sketches from 66 thousand applications that came to the competition. In addition to Savva's work, the collection includes a blue striped cat of 8-year-old Liepa from Lithuania, a funny bird of 10-year-old Nick from the USA, a pair of plush sandwiches of 9-year-old Audrey from Canada and scrambled eggs of 7-year-old Zosia from Poland. The price of each toy is 499 rubles. IKEA will transfer all proceeds from the sale of the collection "to support regional charity projects aimed at protecting the rights of the child."
