Bill Gates warned about new viruses that will be more dangerous than coronavirus

Microsoft co-founder, billionaire Bill Gates said that in the future the world may face new pandemics that will be more dangerous than the COVID-19 pandemic, and urged to prepare for them in advance. This is reported by the Financial Times.

The billionaire urged the governments of the countries to prepare in advance for the next pandemics by investing money in innovative projects.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, together with the British Welcome Trust Foundation, will donate $300 million to the Epidemic Preparedness Innovation Coalition (CEPI). The funds will be used to create a project that will minimally reduce the development time of vaccines against new potential viruses (up to 100 days). The cost of the project will be $ 3.5 billion.

Despite the fact that the omicron and delta coronavirus strains were among the most transmissible viruses that have ever existed, in the future the world may have to face a pathogen that will lead to a much higher mortality rate and more severe diseases.

Gates said.

Bill Gates noted the strangeness of world priorities: the solution to the issue of providing coronavirus vaccines to the population of low- and middle-income countries fell on the shoulders of rich governments and philanthropists.

Spending billions to prevent trillions of economic damage and save tens of billions of lives is pretty good insurance,

- he says.

He added that innovations aimed at preparing for a future pandemic can also be useful for solving existing global health problems. So, with their help, HIV vaccines and more effective drugs against tuberculosis and malaria can be created.

The activities of Bill Gates were not approved by everyone. Since the beginning of the pandemic, he has become the protagonist of conspiracy theories that have spread around the world. Proponents of these theories believe that the pandemic began precisely thanks to Gates, and in fact he wants to implant microchips in billions of people and as a result reduce the population of the Earth.
