Kim Cattrall on the continuation of "Sex and the City": "It's great wisdom to know when to stop"

Kim Cattrall, known for the role of Samantha in the TV series "Sex and the City", gave an interview to Variety and told why she did not appear in the continuation of the series, the project "And just like that". 

Despite the fact that this project made her popular, the actress said that she was done with this franchise after she appeared in the second film, because the story had outlived itself. Even then, Cattrall made it clear that she was not going to play the role of Samantha anymore. She stated that she did not want to "compromise what this series was," and also noted that she wanted to play different roles as a "character actress."

Kim Cattrall admitted that she was not even invited to the shooting "Just like that", and she learned about the continuation of the series from social networks. In addition, the actress has not yet watched the series. However, the actress said that she is proud that fans of the series want to see Samantha — Kim said that she managed to "leave behind something she can be proud of" and admitted that she loves her heroine very much.

The absence of Samantha in "And just like that" was one of the reasons why the series faced criticism from fans. In addition, the audience condemned other things — for example, the romance of a married Miranda with a woman and other moments.

Previously, fans believed that the reason for Samantha's absence in the continuation of the series was in a bad relationship with her partner on the set, Sarah Jessica Parker. In her interview with Variety in February 2022, the actress noted that she would not like Cattrall to appear in the continuation of the series. Cattrall herself noted that the relationship on the set was "normal business", and they were not obliged to be friends.
