Plus-size models were offended by Emily Ratajkowski's photo and accused her of fatphobia

Emily Ratajkowski's photo shoot for M Le Monde caused a negative reaction among plus-size models and activists who believe that the star is promoting unhealthy body image. The reason for the controversy was a photo of a model wearing jeans that were twice her size.

Subscribers were surprised by this image of Emily, who published the book “My Body,” which became a bestseller. It examines the relationship between femininity and the commercialization of sexuality.

“Writing a book with an emphasis on the body, and then taking such a photo is crazy,” users write under Ratajkowski’s photo.

Plus-size models and representatives of the fashion industry also spoke out against the photo published in the magazine. "I looked through these jeans from the photo. It would be great if you could return them. Thank you very much,” says Tess Holliday, a well-known online plus-size model.

"What is the reason for this photo? “Sincerely curious,” wrote stylist Kelly Augustine.

Blogger Stephanie Yeboah also did not understand the message of Emily's photo. "What a strange photo. Did you write a book about body image?”

The founder of the lingerie brand for women of different sizes, Hanne Vandersteen, also condemned Ratajkowski. “What kind of fatphobic hell is in the photo?”

Dazed called Emily's photo shoot a "slap in the face for plus-size people," calling 2023 a "difficult year for plus-size women."
