Beyoncé accused of stealing costume designs for Renaissance tour

Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama has accused singer Beyoncé of creating futuristic costumes for her Renaissance tour based on his illustrations. The artist published several frames from the singer’s performances and compared them with his own images. In a similar look, Beyonce poses for the cover of the single My House, which was shown in the end credits of her concert film Renaissance Tour.

"Hey, Beyoncé. You should have contacted me officially, and then I could have done something better for you, like I did for The Weeknd before,” he wrote on social networks. The illustrator actually previously worked with rapper The Weeknd to create a new cover for the 10th anniversary reissue of his 2011 mixtape Echoes Of Silence.

However, the artist himself was criticized in the comments, with some users noting that his own designs were largely inspired by earlier conceptual science fiction works, which Beyoncé may also have been inspired by.

Beyoncé previously faced criticism after photos of her with blond hair and fair skin appeared online. Because of this, the singer was compared to Kim Kardashian, who not so long ago was also blonde, and they said that she “wants to be white.” Singer Beyonce's mother Tina Knowles stood up for her daughter: she explained that this image is a reference to the Renaissance tour, and called the comments of haters racist.
