Holly Marie Combs said Alyssa Milano "kicked out" Shannen Doherty from "Charmed"

Actress Holly Marie Combs, who played in the TV series "Charmed" role of Piper, Shannen Doherty said in a new episode of the podcast that it was Alyssa Milano who achieved the latter's dismissal from the series. Doherty, unexpectedly for fans, left the series after the second season, and her character died in the story.

Recently, Shannen Doherty said that Alyssa Milano (Phoebe), with whom she used to be friends, created a toxic atmosphere on the set, and also quarreled with Holly Marie Combs - she did not allow her to visit her colleague when she was recovering from surgery. Now Holly Marie Combs has also confirmed that the conflicts came from Milano. According to her, she even met with the show's producer Jonathan Levine in the early 2000s to understand why Doherty was fired from the series.

"He said, "We didn't want this, but we were driven into a corner. We were essentially in a position where we had to choose one or the other. We were told (Holly Marie Combs hinted at Alyssa Milano - Ed.) that it was either her or Shannen. Alyssa threatened to sue us for a hostile work environment,” recalls Holly Marie Combs. According to the producer, Milano allegedly "documented every time she felt uncomfortable on set."

As Holly Marie Combs noted, this left her confused because she does not remember them exchanging harsh words or having conflicts on the set. She added that the tension between the actresses was not obvious, and the crew and guest actors did not notice it.

After it became known about Doherty's departure, Holly Marie Combs also wanted to leave the show after her and even told the producers about her departure. "This is not a show I would want to do without Shannen. She didn't want to work on the series without me. So I don't want to do this without her, and that should be very clear," she said. However, the producers told her that it was like blackmail and threatened to sue her if she left the show.

Doherty herself said that after leaving the series, she spent about a year analyzing her actions and reflecting on what she did wrong. According to her, she does not remember being rude to Alyssa Milano. Previously, Shannen also said that the reason for the conflict could be the rivalry between them - they were both promised leading roles in the show, and each of them wanted to be in the spotlight.

The popular series about three witch sisters received eight seasons and ran from 1998 to 2006. Starring Holly Marie Combs, Alyssa Milano and Shannen Doherty, who was later replaced by Rose McGowan.
