Amy Winehouse's father is trying to sue her friends for almost $1 million

Amy Winehouse's father, Mitch Winehouse, has sued two of his daughter's friends, accusing them of trying to profit from her private property after her death.

As the Daily Mail reports, citing court documents, Mitch filed a lawsuit against Naomi Parry and Catriona Gourlay with the intention of suing them for 730 thousand pounds sterling (more than 930 thousand dollars).

According to the man, in 2021 and 2023, Naomi and Catriona auctioned Amy's personal belongings, selling them in their own names.

Parry has worked as the singer's stylist since 2005 and spent about six years traveling and sometimes even living with Amy. Gourlay was close friends with Winehouse for many years and once spoke about her strong connection with the artist in the BBC Two documentary Amy Returns.

Mitch expects Parry to pay more than $678,000 in damages and Gourlay more than $250,000. According to the man, he tried to find out from the girls how they ended up with Amy’s personal belongings, but could not get clear answers. It is noted that if the court decides in favor of Winehouse, the money that can be sued will be transferred to a charitable foundation named after the singer, which helps people with drug and alcohol addictions.

Amy Winehouse died in the summer of 2011 at the age of 27. The cause of her death was accidental alcohol poisoning.
