"People can die of a broken heart." The cause of death of Sinead O'Connor has been revealed

Six months after the death of Sinead O'Connor, the reason for the Irish singer's death became known. A friend of the singer of the hit Nothing Compares 2 U said that she died due to a “broken heart.” Sinead died last July aged 56. A representative of the London court confirmed to TMZ that the star's death was due to natural causes. He added that the investigation into the singer’s death has been closed.

The confirmation comes shortly after the singer's friend and producer David Holmes said she "died of a broken heart" amid the tragic death of 17-year-old son Shane. "Even though Sinead was incredibly resilient, I fully believe that people can die from a broken heart."

O'Connor passed away exactly one year after her 17-year-old son committed suicide. Shortly after his death, Shayna was admitted to the hospital. She blamed herself for his suicide: “No one is to blame for his death but me.”

Shortly before her death, O'Connor posted a photo with her son on X (formerly Twitter, blocked in the Russian Federation) and wrote: “He was the love of my life, the light of my soul. We were two parts of one soul. He was the only person who loved me unconditionally."

Throughout her career, Sinead has been open about her mental health struggles, including being diagnosed with bipolar disorder and battling depression for many years. As a child, O'Connor was the victim of sexual and emotional abuse by her mother. The singer is survived by three children: Jake, Roisin and Yeshua.

Despite her experiences, shortly before her death, Sinead, according to her friends, gave the impression of being happy with her life and making plans for the future. The singer said on social networks that she had moved to a recently purchased “cute new apartment” in West London and planned to "write new music": she even hinted at an upcoming album and world tour.

During her career, Sinead O'Connor has released 10 studio albums. She rose to fame in 1990 with her cover of Prince's Nothing Compares 2 U. At the 1990 Billboard Music Awards, the song was named the number one single worldwide.
