"There is no Ken without Barbie." Ryan Gosling criticized the Oscars for the fact that Margot Robbie was not nominated for the award

Ryan Gosling has categorically spoken out about the fact that his Barbie co-star Margot Robbie and the film's director Greta Gerwig were not nominated for an Oscar. The actor himself was nominated in the category "Best Supporting Actor". The film also received several other nominations, including Best Adapted Screenplay, Costume Design and Best Supporting Actress.

"There is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this historic, world-famous film. No recognition would be possible for anyone involved in the film without their talent, patience and genius,” he told People.

"With nothing more than a couple of soulless, scantily clad dolls, they made us laugh, they broke our hearts, they advanced culture and made history. Their work should be recognized along with other very deserving nominees."

Gosling's opinion was shared by many: Hollywood insiders called the lack of nominations for Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig "a blow to the industry."

This is not the first time that “Barbie” has failed to achieve success at the awards: at the Golden Globes, the film lost to its main rival, Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer.”
