Margot Robbie reacts to her absence from an Oscar nomination

The performer of the role of Barbie in the film of the same name, Margot Robbie, commented on the lack of a nomination for her participation at the upcoming Oscars. Most of all, the actress is upset with the director of the film, Greta Gerwig, who was also not included in the list of nominees. Robbie spoke about this while participating in a screening and discussion of the film as part of the SAG program.

“Obviously Greta should be nominated as a director because what she did is a once-in-a-career, once-in-a-lifetime event,” Margot said.

The actress expressed herself more calmly about her absence, noting that she was not upset about it. “It is impossible to be sad when you know that you have such happiness.” Margot, who is the film's producer, is happy that the comedy managed to rack up eight nominations in other important categories, including Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress and more.

“We wanted to do something that would change the culture,” says Robbie. "And it has already happened. Much more than we could ever imagine. And this is truly the greatest reward that can come from all of this. I can't remember a time when a film has had such an impact on culture. And it's amazing to be in the eye of the storm."

Previously, Ryan Gosling, who was nominated for his role as Ken, condemned the absence of Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig from the Oscar lists. "There is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this historic, world-famous film. No recognition would be possible for anyone involved in the film without their talent, patience and genius."

America Ferrera, who received her first Oscar nomination for her role as Gloria in Barbie, believes that this situation only emphasizes the meaning of the film. "It's really disappointing. What they [Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig] created is just undeniable. How unprecedented, how unexpected," the actress said in an interview with The Today Show. "And I think that's what people are upset about."

Even the legendary writer Stephen King was perplexed to learn that Greta Gerwig was not given the opportunity to compete for the award. "Greta Gerwig didn't get a nomination? Is it really true?" — the author wrote on social networks.
