Meghan Markle attended the SXSW festival and spoke about how she survived online bullying
The Duchess of Sussex attended a conference entitled "Breaking Barriers, Shaping Narratives: How Women Are Leading on and Off Screen," which took place on International Women's Day as part of the SXSW festival.
For the event, which took place in Austin (Texas), Megan dressed up in a cream-colored Giuliva Heritage silk shirt worth $974 (about 88 thousand rubles) and a matching maxi skirt for $1,050 (about 95 thousand rubles). Her look was complemented by Valentino Garavani Roman Stud mules worth $770 (about 70 thousand rubles) and Bottega Veneta earrings also worth several hundred dollars.
Speaking to the audience, Markle spoke about how, while pregnant first with her son Archie and then with her daughter Lilibeth, she faced severe cyberbullying, which negatively affected her mental health.
“The peak of the bullying and abuse I experienced online was when I was pregnant with Archie and Lily and when they were first born. Young mothers are very vulnerable. It's hard to understand why people have so much hatred. These are not just sarcastic remarks, this is cruelty. When you are pregnant or have just had a baby, it is such a tender and sacred time, so it is very easy to give in to this pain. Perhaps, in some sense, my mammalian instinct kicked in: “Do everything you can to protect your child.” As a result, you will protect yourself,” Megan shared her emotions.
She said that lately, for her own good, she has been trying to stay away from social networks, because it is a very toxic environment. The Duchess also thanked her husband Prince Harry, who was also present at the conference, for the support - he watched his wife from the auditorium. “I have many privileges in life, and this is one of them - I was lucky with an incredible partner. My husband is such a wonderful father and is so supportive of me and my family. I don't take it for granted. This is a real blessing. Not everyone can boast this level of support,” Megan said.
After the conference, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry visited the popular Texas restaurant la Barbecue, where they tasted a brisket with sausages and talked with the employees. Production manager Corey Rivademar said Harry loved the mural of Freddie Mercury dressed as Queen Elizabeth that hung next to the toilet. He even expressed a desire to be photographed in front of her, in response to which one of the employees joked: “It seems to me that you already have enough problems.” Harry laughed when he heard this.
According to Corey, Harry and Meghan were very sweet. They willingly took pictures with visitors to the establishment, which was operating as usual despite the arrival of important guests. After the Dukes of Sussex left, Rivademar received a message from Meghan's representatives, who wrote that she had never tasted such delicious barbecue. “They seemed happy and pleasant to me, he was very nice. She said that their child loves the new Disney film “Wish.” Very sincere and very loving. Happy couple. They were polite to people who didn’t even understand what was going on,” Corey told People.
Lately, Meghan Markle often goes out and gets caught by the paparazzi. She recently visited an Italian restaurant in Beverly Hills with friends. Prince Harry is rumored to be trying to make peace with his brother and father, who was recently diagnosed with cancer, but so far without much success.
