"It completely changes your nervous system." FKA Twigs spoke about the consequences of her relationship with Shia LaBeouf, whom she accused of violence
Singer FKA Twigs, who in 2020 accused her ex-boyfriend, actor Shia LaBeouf, of sexual and physical abuse, appeared on the cover of the new issue of British Vogue and in an interview with the publication explained how the relationship took a toll on her psyche.
“I think I naively thought that it would be like any other breakup, that I would be sad for six months to a year and then one day I would wake up and everything would change,” the singer said.
However, according to her, it was the actor’s behavior that left a strong mark on her psyche. "The very act of abuse changes your entire nervous system. Because my 'window of tolerance' is now much smaller than before, my body exhibits stress in very extreme ways - it shows me in every way when there is something wrong with my psyche."
FKA Twigs and Shia LaBeouf dated in 2018 and were together for less than a year - but the singer calls the relationship "the worst thing I've ever been through in my life." After the breakup, she accused the actor of “merciless violence” and “knowingly transmitting a sexually transmitted disease.”
LaBeouf responded to her allegations in 2022 and stated that FKA Twigs "saved his life" and "made him wake up and take responsibility for his actions." According to him, he really hurt her, like other women before her. After being accused of abuse, he converted to Catholicism. The singer herself called his statements “gaslighting.”
Shia LaBeouf is now married to actress Mia Goth, and they became parents in 2022. Recently, a colleague on the set accused the actress of violence, saying that she first almost stepped on him and then deliberately kicked him in the head.
