"She hopes Pitt will stop his relentless attacks." Angelina Jolie wins legal victory against Brad Pitt
Angelina Jolie won a legal victory in court against her ex-husband Brad Pitt: the ex-spouses are suing over the Chateau Miraval winery, which they bought together in 2008 for $28.4 million. The actress's lawyer told Entertainment Tonight about Jolie's victory.
Jolie sold her share to Russian billionaire Yuri Shefler, who is also involved in the alcohol business, which angered Pitt: the actor said that Jolie violated the agreement according to which in the event of such situations she had to offer him to buy out the share.
During a hearing in Los Angeles last week, the court rejected five of Pitt's seven claims. "The judge dismissed most of Mr. Pitt's claims because they lack legal merit. Pitt's lawsuit was never about a business dispute, it was about his attempts to cover up serious abuse, and we are pleased that the judge dismissed his claims."
He also added that Jolie has "no animosity whatsoever" towards her ex-husband. "She hopes that he will now release her from his frivolous lawsuit, stop his relentless attacks and join her in helping their family heal without prying eyes."
Previously, Jolie claimed that Pitt “behaved like a capricious child,” engaged in “looting” of the winery and wasted millions of dollars in profits (according to the FT, in 2022, the rosé wine brand created by Pitt and Jolie with the help of winemaker Marc Perrin brought in more than 16 million dollars in profit) for the construction of a recording studio and renovation of the swimming pool. "During the years he supposedly 'built' the business, he appeared in dozens of films, not to mention countless advertising appearances, traveled around the world to film premieres and attended Hollywood parties. The most he did was visit vineyards to admire the work of the French workers who made this business successful,” the court documents said.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie met in 2005 on the set of the film Mr. and Mrs. Smith. In 2012, they got married at the Chateau Miraval estate. In 2016, Angelina Jolie filed for divorce, accusing Pitt of domestic violence.
The couple also spent a long time resolving issues of custody of their six children. The network discussed the actor’s conflicts with his children, as well as insider allegations that it was Jolie who was setting them up against her ex-husband.
