"Became a little more machine-like." Arnold Schwarzenegger said he underwent surgery to install a pacemaker
76-year-old Arnold Schwarzenegger underwent surgery to install a pacemaker. He spoke about this on his Arnold's Pump Club podcast, in which he talks about bodybuilding.
“Last Monday I had surgery and I became a little more like a machine: I got a pacemaker,” said the actor, who is best known for his starring role in the film “Terminator.” He noted that he feels good and has already returned to his previous life, although he will have to give up intense training for a while.
This is Schwarzenegger's fourth heart surgery: he was born with a congenital heart defect. In 1997, the artist underwent heart surgery to replace the aortic valve, and later two more similar operations: the last one was in 2020.
Previously, Arnold Schwarzenegger admitted that he was very worried about his “aging” body, as well as because he could not fully train due to health problems. According to the actor, this makes him feel like “damaged goods.”
"Every day I look in the mirror and say to myself, 'Yeah, you suck.' I look at my body and these pecs used to be so strong and toned and really powerful. Now they're just hanging there. Why the hell is this happening?" - said Schwarzenegger.
