"I'm tired of putting up with this." Lizzo announces retirement amid harassment allegations

Lizzo, facing cancellation due to allegations of harassment, has decided to end her music career. The Grammy winner announced this on her Instagram*.

“I’m tired of putting up with how everyone goes over me in real life and on the Internet. All I want is to make music, make people happy and help the world be a little better than it already is. But I’m starting to feel that the world doesn’t want to see me in it,” the singer wrote in an emotional message to subscribers.

She added that lately she has been constantly confronted with lies about her, which, according to her, people spread for the sake of influence and views. “People always make fun of me because of the way I look. People I don’t even know are misinterpreting my identity and smearing my name,” Lizzo fumed, concluding that she “didn’t sign up for this shit.”

Many of the star's followers, including celebrities such as Paris Hilton and Marc Jacobs, publicly supported her in the comments. “We love you, queen!” — Paris wrote. Fans asked the singer not to make rash decisions and not to spend too much time on social networks. At the same time, there were many critical comments under the post. “It’s not about how you look, it’s about how you act,” wrote one Internet user.

Last year, several of Lizzo's former dancers filed a lawsuit against her in Los Angeles Superior Court, accusing the star of creating a hostile work environment and mistreatment, including sexual harassment, weight-related harassment and disability discrimination. Lizzo herself categorically denied all accusations.
