Rihanna was accused of insulting religion because of a photo shoot for Interview magazine in which she appeared as a nun.
On Instagram*, under the photographs of the 36-year-old singer, many indignant comments appeared: Rihanna’s photo shoot is called “blasphemy” and “a mockery of religion.”
“I love Rihanna, but I never understood this obsession with sexualizing religious ideas,” writes one user. Others complained that "religious imagery is being used for the wrong purposes" and criticized Rihanna for choosing the one that had to do with religion out of all the possible images.
Some users stood up for the singer and asked critics if they made similar comments to the posts of everyone who dressed up as a nun for Halloween.
During the shoot for the magazine, the singer posed for fashion photographer Nadya Lee Cohen, who is known for her collaborations with Miu Miu, A$AP Rocky and Kim Kardashian. Rihanna tried on looks from Dior, Bottega Veneta, Loewe, Loro Piana and Savage x Fenty.
In an interview with the publication, she said that she was thinking about plastic surgery for a breast lift. "I want my boobs pressed up against my shoulders, right where they used to be. I don't want implants. I just want a lift."
