She recently spoke about keeping her promise to the Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2019 to stop drinking before her son turned 18 so she could spend enough time with him without having to send him off to school with a hangover. In a new interview with The New York Times, Anne admitted that she has not drunk for five years. After being asked what it was like to celebrate her 40th birthday and be considered a “middle-aged woman,” Hathaway said there were more important dates in her life. “I don't usually talk about this, but I haven't drunk for five years. This is a really important date. 40 years is just a gift,” she said.
