Prince Harry and Meghan Markle kicked off their Nigeria tour with a visit to a local school

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have launched their first official international tour since stepping back from royal duties in 2020. At the invitation of the Chief of Defense Staff of Nigeria, the couple flew to this African country on May 10 and already managed to visit the local school Wuse Lightway Academy in Abuja, which is supported by the Archewell Foundation.

Meghan Markle arrived at the school in a peach-colored maxi dress, and Harry wore a light shirt and trousers. The Dukes of Sussex were greeted with a performance of local dancing and music, and traditional necklaces were placed on the couple's necks. The couple spoke with children and representatives of the GEANCO organization, which provides support to the local population in the areas of education and health. One of GEANCO's programs helps with training, medical care, and psychological support for victims of terrorism and gender inequality in Nigeria.

Last year, Archewell Foundation partnered with the GEANCO Foundation to donate funds to purchase school supplies and hygiene products for young Nigerian women.

However, first of all, the visit of the Dukes of Sussex is aimed at promoting the “Invictus Games” - competitions between wounded military personnel, which are held in different countries on the initiative of Prince Harry. Recently, Harry came to the UK for the same purpose. Many expected him to meet his father, Charles III, who had recently been diagnosed with cancer, but this did not happen. The official reason is the monarch’s busy schedule. However, many are confident that the king would have found time for his son if he wanted, and believe that Harry’s loved ones are not yet ready to forgive him for his scandalous memoirs, in which many accusations were made against the prince’s relatives.

Last month, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attended a charity polo match in Florida.
