Reception in honor of military families, summit on women's leadership: how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's tour of Nigeria is going

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's official tour of Nigeria continues. The couple has a very busy schedule: several events are planned for each day.

Yesterday, May 11, Meghan and Harry started the day by attending a training session for a Nigerian charity that works closely with the Invictus Games Foundation. Megan came to the event in a Joanna Ortiz Tropicana Nights dress worth £2,275 (about 260 thousand rubles) with a palm leaf print. Harry was sporting: he took part in a seated volleyball exhibition match.

By the way, when the Sussexes arrived at the match site, they were greeted by a group of fans who were holding signs that read “43% Nigerian” - a reference to Meghan’s recent admission that a DNA test indicated her Nigerian origin. They joked about Prince Harry that he owes Nigerians a dowry for Meghan.

The couple later attended a reception hosted by the Chief of Defense Staff in honor of the military families.

That afternoon, Meghan attended the Women in Leadership Summit with Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director General of the World Trade Organization. For this event, the Duchess chose a bright red bodycon dress by Nigerian designer ORIRE. “I realized very quickly that I needed to wear more colorful outfits to match all of you and your incredible fashion sense,” she explained to those in attendance.

During the Q&A session, Meghan revealed how much she loves being a mother, but admitted that balancing family and career isn't always easy. She also reiterated her Nigerian heritage: “First of all, I want to thank you so much for how graciously you have welcomed my husband and me to this country... my country.”

Recall that the Dukes of Sussex flew to Nigeria to promote the “Invictus Games” - competitions between wounded military personnel, which are held in different countries on the initiative of Prince Harry. On the first day of their visit, the couple visited Wuse Lightway Academy in Nigeria's capital, Abuja. Meghan’s appearance was actively discussed online because the Duchess chose a dress called “Windsor” for the event.
