Brad Pitt's daughter Shiloh wanted to speak at the custody trial, but her father prevented her
Brad Pitt did not want his daughter with Angelina Jolie, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, to testify about her preferences in the matter of custody. This was reported by Us Weekly magazine, citing sources close to the family.
According to the insider, Shiloh was one of those who wanted to testify during the hearings in 2021, at that time she was 14 years old. However, Brad Pitt opposed this, and the judge sided with him and did not listen to Shiloh's opinion. The insider did not say what exactly the daughter of the star couple planned to tell the court. As a result of the hearings, Brad Pitt was awarded joint custody of the children, but later Angelina Jolie succeeded in removing the judge because he had a business relationship with the actor’s lawyers, which he kept silent about.
A second insider revealed that Brad Pitt's bond with Shiloh has weakened over time: "She used to be very close to Brad and his family, but that relationship has changed in recent years." That their relationship became more strained was revealed when Shiloh filed paperwork to officially drop her father's last name after she turned 18. Interestingly, there were rumors on the eve of Shiloh's 18th birthday that she was planning to move in with her father and wanted her parents to mend their relationship.
A third insider told the publication that 18-year-old Shiloh hired and paid for the services of her own lawyer, who will handle her case about changing her last name. The request has not yet been satisfied, but, as experts note, this may happen in the near future, since such requests are granted quite often in California.
It was previously reported that 60-year-old Brad Pitt was sensitive to Shiloh’s decision to give up his last name. She was not the first of his daughters to take such a step, but the first who was going to do it officially. Prior to this, her younger sister Vivienne also abandoned the surname Pitt.
In total, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have six children, three of whom are adopted - Maddox, Zahara and Pax and three are biological - Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne. Pax called Brad Pitt a "world class asshole" on social media and accused him of keeping children afraid. Zahara performed in college, introducing herself as Zahara Marley Jolie.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie began divorce proceedings back in 2016, and it still cannot be completed: so far only custody issues have been resolved, but the couple continues to sue over the Miraval estate and winery.
