"Every girl dreamed of being kissed by Leonardo DiCaprio." Kate Winslet about filming "Titanic" and criticism of her daughter, who became an actress

Kate Winslet gave an interview to Variety and talked about kissing Leonardo DiCaprio on the set of the cult film Titanic, as well as criticism of her daughter Mia Threapleton, who decided to follow in her footsteps and became an actress.

According to Kate, kissing on the set of Titanic was not at all what everyone thought. "It was a real nightmare. The reason turned out to be makeup: during the kiss, it constantly spoiled both of us, as did our hairstyles. We continued kissing, and I had a lot of makeup on. I had to constantly check it on both of us. After several takes, I looked as if I was smeared with a bar of caramel chocolate. All because the makeup from his face remained on me."

Despite all the difficulties, the actress is happy with how these scenes turned out and admitted that DiCaprio turned out to be a real romantic. "It's no wonder every young girl in the world wanted Leonardo DiCaprio to kiss her," Kate said. Indeed, the 49-year-old actor still enjoys his reputation as a Hollywood heartthrob: he is constantly spotted in the company of models, who, as a rule, are under 25 years old.

After Titanic, Kate and Leo also starred together in the film Revolutionary Road, where they played a married couple. Having met in their youth, the actors are still friends and try to participate in each other’s lives.

Kate also spoke out about the criticism leveled at her daughter Mia. Like many star children, she decided to follow in her mother’s footsteps and also become an actress. But not everyone on the network approved of her decision and called her a nepo baby: privileged children of stars are often accused of taking away opportunities from talented people without connections.

Mia already has several roles in films, including in the film Firebrand with Jude Law and Alicia Vikander. When asked if she was nervous about her daughter’s career, Kate replied that she felt better. “Thank God, this terrible criticism, which could have caused serious damage to her, has stopped,” she said.

According to the 48-year-old actress, she would like Mia to figure it all out herself. "Now that she's stopped being criticized so much, she'll be able to figure out everything else on her own. She's so emotionally stable and true to herself that I don't worry about her," Kate said.

After Mia appeared in the historical drama “Pirates,” the network noted that the girl began to look like a real copy of her mother in her youth, when she starred in “Titanic.” Kate herself, by the way, also has negative memories associated with this filming: after the release of Titanic, she was bullied for being overweight and pestered with jokes that her and DiCaprio’s characters could easily have fit on that very door if Kate had been slimmer.

Mia is Kate Winslet's daughter with her second husband, director Sam Mendes. The actress has three children in total, all three from three different husbands.
