BBC journalist's family shot with crossbow in London
The family of BBC journalist and commentator John Hunt has been shot in London, The Times reports. The journalist's wife, 61-year-old Carol, and his two daughters, 25-year-old Louise and 28-year-old Hannah, were killed, and another survived - she was not at home. The journalist himself also survived.
Police suspect 26-year-old Kyle Clifford, who was dating one of Hunt's daughters, Louise, in the murder. They broke up a few days before the incident. According to The Sun, the suspected killer was found in Lavender Hill Cemetery in north London. He was wounded, despite the fact that police did not use a weapon during the arrest. He is currently receiving medical assistance.
It was also specified that the suspect served in the British armed forces, but left shortly before the incident.
In the UK, a license for a crossbow is not required, but carrying one in public places is prohibited. In addition, the government has repeatedly discussed tightening the legislation after a man with a crossbow was detained on the grounds of Windsor Castle in 2021. According to investigators, the detainee wanted to kill Queen Elizabeth II; two years later, he was sentenced to nine years in prison.
