"When I look back, I think, 'What was I thinking?'" Winona Ryder opens up about two failed romances with famous men in her youth
Winona Ryder starred in a photo shoot for the new issue of Harper's Bazaar magazine, and in an interview with the publication, she recalled the unsuccessful relationships with famous men that she had in the past. According to the 52-year-old actress, these relationships were "catastrophic".
"I've been in two disastrous relationships that were... Not that they felt wrong at the time, at least before I thought about Googling it... But when I look back, I'm like, 'What the hell was I thinking?' I was dating someone who, after a few weeks, made it clear that they were in a relationship with someone else. And you're just like, 'What the fuck?'" she says.
She says it was a tough time, and she thinks about it often when she reads through her journals. "People tend to write when they're depressed or upset. I personally don't usually write journals unless I'm really happy. I would read through them and just ask myself, 'How?' It was really sad. I was obviously trying to have hope and give myself grace. But I was taking care of everyone but myself," Winona said.
Ryder did not say who exactly she had unsuccessful relationships with (and added that it would not be possible to "google" this either), but she has had affairs with many famous men: Matt Damon, David Duchovny, Val Kilmer and, according to rumors, Charlie Sheen. But her most famous affair was with Johnny Depp, whom the actress dated from 1990 to 1993. During their relationship, the actor got a tattoo in honor of his beloved "Winona Forever", which had to be corrected after the breakup - the actor changed Winona's name to "Wino".
Winona is currently dating businessman Scott McKinley Hahn: they have been together for 14 years.
