She admitted that after the affair began, she received a huge amount of criticism and never thought she was "that ugly." "Nothing could have prepared me for literally thousands of women telling me I was ugly, unattractive, the worst in every way imaginable."

Kate Thomas is a spiritual mentor in Los Angeles, New York, and London who uses tarot cards in her practice. Born in the UK, she began giving tarot readings at the age of 17 in a "tiny room above a crystal shop" in Glastonbury. Two years later, she began her "spiritual apprenticeship," and soon earned a PhD in Catholic theology at Oxford and an MA in the philosophy of religion.
