On Morning Sickness, Husband, and Haters: Hailey Bieber Gives First Pregnancy Interview and Takes Part in Photoshoot
Hailey Bieber has given her first major interview since announcing her pregnancy. The 27-year-old model, businesswoman, influencer and Justin Bieber's wife appeared on the cover of W Magazine's summer special issue and posed for a photo shoot showing off her rounded belly.
In the complimentary material, describing Hailey as a pleasant and easy-going girl who managed to build a beauty empire (Hailey Bieber created the cosmetics brand Rhode), much attention is paid to her business, the beginning of her career and some funny moments from her life are told. At the same time, both the author and Hailey herself emphasize that they understand that she grew up in a privileged family and is a real "babe".
Hailey is the daughter of actor Stephen Baldwin and graphic designer Kenny Deodato. She grew up in absolute prosperity and calls her childhood happy. However, already at the age of 17, Hailey began an independent life: she signed a contract with the modeling agency Ford Models and moved to New York, where she found herself "surrounded by adults doing very adult things": "I started traveling the world, earning my first money, I got my own apartment and had to learn to live on my own and pay my own bills. This made me grow up pretty quickly - most of my friends at that age were just leaving home for college." True, the life of a "single independent woman" did not last long - already at the age of 21, Hailey got married.
One of the main topics of the interview was Hayley's pregnancy: she said that she suffers from morning sickness, but not in the morning, but constantly ("I don't understand why they call it that, the name clearly needs to be changed"). Before her pregnancy, Hayley followed a protein diet ("lots of eggs, chicken and steaks"), but now she listens to her body: "I just listen to what the baby wants. If the baby wants pizza, then there will be pizza." Hayley's diet is monitored by a private chef, whom she hired specifically for the duration of her pregnancy.
Bieber hid her pregnancy for six months, and says she would have kept it that way if she could: "I probably could have kept it that way until the very end. But I didn't like that I couldn't be open about being pregnant. It felt like I was hiding some big secret, and that was unpleasant. I wanted to be able to go out in public and live my life." For the first six months, this wasn't a problem: Hailey's belly was so tiny that no one could suspect her of being pregnant, and baggy clothes helped her hide her condition.
Keeping her personal life out of the press is a long-standing habit of Hailey’s, which has been reinforced by her marriage to Justin Bieber, whose every move is scrutinized by his army of fans. Hailey has faced a lot of negativity over their relationship, and continues to do so, because even now, six years into her marriage to Justin and expecting their first child, she continues to be compared and pitted against Bieber’s ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez. Her name, of course, was never mentioned in the interview, but Hailey spoke about the haters: "From the very first day of my relationship with Justin, I was upset by what people said about us. "They're breaking up/hating each other/getting divorced." It was like people didn't want to believe that we were happy. I used to try to act like it affected me less and less. I tried to train myself to think that at some point I would just get used to this negativity: people would act this way and say this. But I realize that it doesn't actually make it any easier."
Partly for this reason, partly because of her heightened anxiety, Hayley now limits her presence on the Internet in principle: "The Internet is a scary place for a pregnant woman. You can see so many unpleasant stories - about traumatic births or traumatic pregnancy experiences. I know that's the reality, but I just don't want to scare myself."
Hailey tries to focus on the positive, and her husband's care and support help her with this. Incidentally, he recently gave her a new engagement ring by Lorraine Schwartz - the tabloids wrote that it had a diamond 10 carats larger, but Hailey denies this: "In fact, it's only a carat larger, just oblong in shape. They [the tabloids] make up whatever they want, I don't want to talk about it," she told the interviewer, who emphasizes that immediately after this, Hailey hid her hands so that the ring was not visible.
Now she and Justin are trying to spend as much time alone with each other as possible, refusing to party with friends and go out in public - to enjoy the fact that it's just the two of them for now: "At the very beginning of the pregnancy, all this caused a lot of emotions. I thought: "I love this person so much, how can I drag someone else into this? Now I try to soak up every moment of these days when it's just us - me and Justin."
