Blake Lively Launches Her Own Hair Brand, Explains Why It Doesn't Include Conditioner

Blake Lively has launched her own hair care brand, Blake Brown. The 36-year-old Gossip Girl star revealed that she worked on the launch for seven years and explained why the line does not include hair conditioner.

Blake Lively is famous for her long and thick hair, which fans of the actress noticed in the film "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" and the series "Gossip Girl". Over the years, the quality of the star's hair has not changed - thanks to a secret she learned on the set, so hair care tips from Blake can be really valuable for her fans and future buyers.

The actress said that she never uses hair conditioner. Moreover, no one around her does this.

"I don't know anyone in my industry who uses conditioner. It's not that people in the entertainment industry have better hair," Lively says. "We use a different hair care system than what's being marketed to the masses."

It's actually quite simple. According to the actress, it's important to have two sets of shampoos and masks in your bathroom - one for moisturizing and one for strengthening your hair, because "your hair needs two things - strength and moisture."

Blake advises to apply shampoo (twice, if necessary), for example, moisturizing, then apply a mask, also for moisturizing, for at least 30 seconds - and rinse. Next time, change the products to another care - strengthening. It is the method of changing care that helps the actress maintain healthy hair. She learned about this method many years ago, when she seriously damaged her hair on her first job.

"The hairdresser explained to me that this process can save hair. If you give hair strength, you give it a foundation, structure and stability. But if you only give it strength, it will become brittle and stiff. So it also needs moisture and elasticity. But if you give it too much, it will break," Lively says.

The idea behind the brand was to create salon-quality hair care, but at a more affordable price — no more than $25 per product. Blake's line includes shampoos for moisturizing and strengthening hair, a mask before washing your hair, strengthening and moisturizing masks, styling mousse, and dry shampoo. All products have different aromas — bergamot, vanilla, sandalwood, and blackcurrant, and the packaging is gold with wooden elements.

"People think of hair masks as more of a specialty or a one-time thing," the actress notes. "But I use them every time, like conditioner." Lively also uses a mask before shampooing. "I live by the principle: If you take something, you have to give it back. And that includes my hair. So if I take from it by styling it and wearing it, then I give it back to it."

The name of the actress's new brand, Blake Brown, does not come from the name of the Brown University that Blake's character wanted to attend in the Gossip Girl series, as fans of the show suggested online. Brown is the real surname of the actress's father, Ernie.

Blake Lively's husband Ryan Reynolds supported his wife on social media and didn't do without some jokes. "I am so proud of this woman. She has been working on Blake Brown for 7 years now. And the result is exactly what you would expect from a hyper-obsessive, detail-obsessed, uncompromising quality control genius. Also, I just found out her last name is Brown."

To which the actress responded: "Brown is my dad's last name. He took Lively from my mom and older siblings. Now that I think about it, Ryan Lively sounds good. Your move, Reynolds."

Memes have already started appearing online about the launch of cosmetics, which will be available for sale on August 4.
