"We spend so much time putting ourselves down." Kate Winslet responds to criticism of her belly on the set of a film

Kate Winslet has responded to the criticism she faced about her appearance while filming her new movie, "Lee." The 48-year-old actress posed for Harper's Bazaar magazine and spoke about accepting her body in an interview with the publication.

The Titanic star has faced criticism for her figure since the beginning of her career. Like many actresses, she took the criticism hard, but as she got older, she got rid of her inhibitions and learned to fight back. "There was a lot of bullying in the media, and it hurt me. Look at my 20s, when I was all shapes and sizes," she says. "We spend so much time putting ourselves down, and I'm just not going to do that anymore."

The actress recently faced criticism for her belly again, which was captured on camera while filming a movie about famous photographer Lee Miller, in which Winslet played the lead role. According to her, before starting work on the film "Lee", she completely stopped working out so that her body would look "softer". "There's a scene where Lee is sitting on a bench in a bikini. One of the crew members came up between takes and said, "Maybe you should sit up straighter." And I said, "So that you don't see the folds on my stomach? Never! I show them on purpose, you know?"

Kate noted that she is not embarrassed to look less than perfect on camera, but on the contrary, always tries to show her true self. "On the contrary. I am proud of it, because my life is on my face, and that is important. It would never occur to me to hide it," she says. "People say: "You should do something about those wrinkles." But every year I become more comfortable in myself. It allows me to let other people's opinions evaporate."

Winslet added that throughout her career she has fought for equality with men and respected older actresses. "We label women all the time - it drives me crazy."

The actress leads a simple life and spends all her free time with her family. She lives in a village in West Sussex with her two dogs, husband and children. Since 2012, the actress has been married to 48-year-old Edward Abel-Smith, whom she describes as "the kindest and best of men." They have a 10-year-old son, Bear, as well as two older children, Mia and Joe, from the actress's previous marriages to directors Jim Threapleton and Sam Mendes.

Everyday life, according to Winslet, is quite ordinary: she does her own shopping at the supermarket, takes the subway and, when asked how she pampers herself, replies: "Butter and cheese." "I really just want to live my life with sincere intentions and a decent amount of generosity," Kate added.
