Alain Delon has died
The famous French actor Alain Delon has died at the age of 88. This was reported by AFP, citing the star's children.
"Alain Fabien, Anoushka, Anthony and [his dog] Loubo announce with great sadness the passing of their father. He passed away peacefully at his home in Douchy, surrounded by his three children," the agency said in a statement.
Alain Delon has admitted more than once that he is tired of life. In 2019, after suffering a stroke, he told the Swiss publication L'Illustre that he would not mind euthanasia. And in March 2022, the actor's son Anthony Delon told RTL in an interview that he promised to accompany his father to the end if he decided to take this step.
In recent years, Alain Delon has been ill a lot. The artist was diagnosed with cancer and Alzheimer's disease. In the spring of this year, the court placed the actor under strict guardianship, prohibiting him from managing his real estate. Delon's income and property were transferred to the guardian. The court made this decision after a petition from Alain Delon's children, who accused their father's nurse Hiromi Rolland, who called herself Delon's chosen one, of abusive behavior.
However, they have also accused each other of insincerity and self-interest on more than one occasion. Thus, Anthony stated in an interview with Paris Match magazine that Anoushka tried to force Alain Delon to change his will and hid the deterioration of his condition from his brothers. In turn, Anoushka herself filed a lawsuit against Anthony, which led to a counterclaim in court and a mutual exchange of insults on social networks.
Alain Delon was born on November 8, 1935, in the suburbs of Paris. He changed many professions (loader, waiter, bartender) before he began acting in films in the 1950s. Among the most famous films with Delon's participation are: "Eclipse" (1962), "Zorro" (1975), "Monsieur Klein" (1976), "Rocco and His Brothers", "The Black Tulip", "In the Bright Sun", "Farewell, Friend".
In May 2017, Delon announced his retirement from film. “Like a boxer who doesn’t want to fight an extra fight, I don’t want to star in an extra film,” he explained.
