Alicia Silverstone scared her fans by eating a poisonous berry on camera

Clueless star Alicia Silverstone has scared her fans. The 47-year-old actress recorded a video on TikTok in which she shared that she found a strange fruit on the street and didn’t know what it was. She asked her followers what it could be and bit off a piece of it.

"I found something, but I can't figure out what it is. I need your help," Silverstone said.

She said the fruit looked like a tomato or a pepper. "I bit into it because it was lying on the street and we were discussing whether it was a tomato or not. I don't think it's worth eating," she said.

Unlike the actress, her fans identified the unknown fruit: it turned out to be the fruit of the Solanum pseudopiperium, which is also known as the "Jerusalem cherry." The berries of this plant are poisonous. They can cause symptoms in humans such as vomiting, diarrhea, drowsiness, hallucinations, and heart rhythm problems.

After this, the actress stopped communicating, which worried fans even more: some have already suggested that Alicia was poisoned after all.

She soon got back in touch, however, and posted on social media. "I'm alive and well! Don't worry, I didn't swallow," she said.

Nightshade is often grown as an ornamental houseplant, but in many countries it grows as a weed.

This is not the first time that the actress has caused controversy among her fans: for example, two years ago she surprised fans with the statement that she still sleeps in the same bed with her 11-year-old son.
