Rebel Wilson attended the premiere of her first (and controversial) directorial work with her daughter

Rebel Wilson's directorial debut, "The Debutante Ball," premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday.

Rebel walked the red carpet in a purple floor-length dress with an original bodice. Apparently, the actress decided that at such an important moment for her, she needed the support of her family, since she took her daughter Royce Lillian Elizabeth, who will turn two in November, to the event. Together with the girl, who was born with the help of a surrogate mother, the 44-year-old star willingly posed for photographers.

The film “The Debutante Ball” is a musical that tells the story of a sweet girl and school outcast named Tayla Simpkins from the Australian town of Dunburn, where the debutante ball is held every year. Tayla is convinced that a symbolic first appearance will help her finally change her life, but all plans are ruined by the arrival of her feminist cousin Maeve, who considers the debutante ball a “heteronormative farce.”

It is worth noting that the release of the film was under threat due to the scandal that broke out. It began with Rebel accusing three producers of the film of inappropriate behavior towards the leading actress and embezzlement of funds from the budget, as well as attempts to prevent the film from being included in the Toronto Film Festival program. In turn, the producers said that Rebel was absent from the set for months and unlawfully disclosed information about the film, and they called her accusations lies caused by dissatisfaction with the final credits.
