Naomi Campbell banned from charity work after spending money on expensive hotels and holidays
Supermodel Naomi Campbell has been banned from being a trustee of a charity. This happened after it was revealed that only a small portion of the funds from her organization Fashion for Relief actually went to charity: all the rest, according to PageSix, was spent on the model’s personal needs, flights, security, spa treatments and stays in luxury hotels. Between April 2016 and July 2022, only 8.5% of the proceeds went to charity.
The investigation also found that Campbell's colleague Bianca Hellmich received hundreds of thousands of dollars in unauthorized payments from the charity. She was banned from being a trustee of the charity for nine years.
Naomi herself commented on the scandal and stated that she did not manage the foundations herself, but handed over management to other people. "We are investigating from our side, because I did not control my charity. I handed over control to a lawyer. Now we are finding out what happened, because everything I do and all the money I receive is directed to charity."
Naomi Campbell founded the Fashion for Relief charity in 2005. The aim of the charity collections is to improve the lives of socially vulnerable people.
