"You go to work - you're ashamed, if you don't go - you're also ashamed." Sophie Turner talks about what it's like to be a single mother

Sophie Turner, who split from Joe Jonas last year, with whom she has two children, has spoken out about the challenges she faces as a single mother in an interview with the Sunday Times.

Now 28, Sophie is working on the series Joan, where she plays a single mother who steals jewels. She began filming the series before Joe Jonas filed for divorce. "If I wasn't a mother, I don't know if I would have been able to put as much energy into it," Sophie says.

She says raising children on her own is a tough job. 'Being a single mother is a struggle. My character Joan doesn't do it in the best way... but it's amazing to watch her fight for her daughter.'

She also noted that being a mother comes with a lot of guilt. "There's so much shame that comes with being a mother. You go to work, you're ashamed. If you don't go to work, you're ashamed," she said.

Interestingly, the problems in Sophie and Joe Jonas's relationship began precisely because Turner worked a lot. At first, Jonas said that his wife spent a lot of time at parties, forcing him to take care of their two daughters himself, but netizens reminded him that the actress is an introvert and does not like parties, and was absent from home because of filming. The singer was also condemned online for criticizing his wife, although people do not see anything wrong with sitting with their children. Later, the couple sorted out their relationship regarding custody of the children, but they managed to find a solution.

Turner previously said that they were "the worst days of my life" and that their children were "casualties" of the divorce. "There were days when I didn't know if I could take it. I would call my lawyer and say, 'I can't do this. I just can't.' I was just never strong enough to stand up for myself. Two weeks later, when I was feeling lost, she reminded me that I was fighting for my children. If someone tells me, 'Do this for your children,' I do it. I wouldn't do it for myself, but I would do it for them."

Now Sophie has a new romance - she is dating British aristocrat Peregrine Pearson. The romance between the actress and Pearson became known in December 2023, when they were spotted together several times. Later, their relationship was confirmed, and now Sophie often posts joint photos with her boyfriend.
