A new criminal case has been opened against Artem and Valeria Chekalin, who only recently resolved their previous problems with the tax authorities. This was reported by the Izvestia publication. It is related to the transfer of currency using forged documents. The main defendant in the case is Artem. He could face up to 5 years in prison.
"We are talking about paying for marathons through a bank in Dubai. A search is currently underway at the Chekalins' residential addresses," the source notes.
Last year, Valeria and Artem were accused of tax evasion on a large sum and money laundering. In mid-January 2024, the Chekalins paid off their half-billion-ruble debt to the tax authorities, and the criminal case against them was soon dropped. During the trial, the couple's relationship deteriorated and their marriage fell apart.
