Michael Schumacher makes first public appearance since coma

Legendary racing driver Michael Schumacher, who spent several months in a coma after a ski accident, has appeared in public for the first time. He was spotted at his daughter Gina-Maria's wedding in Majorca, The Mirror reports. This is his first public appearance in 11 years.

There are no photos from the wedding: according to eyewitnesses, 55-year-old Schumacher tried to stay out of the pictures, and guests were asked to hand over their smartphones to security. Schumacher's 27-year-old daughter married ski jumper Jan Bethke.

The accident happened in 2013: while skiing in the Alps, Michael Schumacher failed to notice a rock under the snow, fell and hit his head on the mountain slope, resulting in a serious head injury. He spent several months in a coma, after which he recovered at home, looked after by his wife Corinna and other family members. The athlete's relatives did not allow journalists to see him and rarely shared details about his recovery with the press: according to them, Schumacher himself did not want information about his health to be made public.
