Harvey Weinstein diagnosed with cancer
Producer Harvey Weinstein, who was sentenced to prison on rape charges, has been diagnosed with bone marrow cancer, NBC News reports.
Weinstein, 72, is currently undergoing treatment at a prison hospital on Rikers Island in New York. "Out of respect for Mr. Weinstein's privacy, we will not be commenting further on this matter," his representative said.
Weinstein also underwent treatment for emergency heart surgery in September.
In 2020, Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison on rape charges. In April 2024, the sentence was overturned and the case sent back for a new trial. Weinstein remains in prison.
Many Hollywood actresses, including Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, Uma Thurman, Salma Hayek and many others, have accused Harvey Weinstein of harassment, and more than 80 women have made a statement in total. The scandal surrounding rapper P. Diddy and his "white parties" where acts of violence against women were committed while they were drugged is now being compared to the Harvey Weinstein case.
