"I don't have that much hate." Johnny Depp says he has forgiven Amber Heard
Johnny Depp has forgiven ex-wife Amber Heard seven years after their split. The 61-year-old actor told The Hollywood Reporter about his "canceling" in Hollywood and that he no longer lives in the past.
"It was a huge gap, and ultimately it taught me a lot," Depp says of his later years, recalling the collapse of his career and the changes in his personal life.
"Honestly, I can sit here right now and think back to all the bullying and how everyone was against me, yeah, yeah, he's out... There's an infinite number of things. I can remember it all. I've been through it all. Some of it wasn't great. Some of it was fun or crazy. The thing is, it just happened and it just is. It just happened to me, I survived it. Everything we go through, whether it's being thrown in the snow or walking the dog, it still teaches us something. So I don't hold any grudges against anyone. I don't have that much hatred because hatred requires care. Why carry that baggage?"
Johnny Depp does not hide the fact that he was deeply affected by the fact that Hollywood turned its back on him after public accusations of abuse from his ex-wife. Only after the trial in 2022, which Johnny won, did he resume his career in Europe with a role in the film "Jeanne Du Barry". He also jokingly compared his "cancellation" to the reputation of O.J. Simpson.
Let us recall that Johnny Depp and Amber Heard started dating in 2011 and got married four years later. In 2016, the actors announced their separation, and Amber publicly spoke about the domestic violence she had experienced in their marriage. Her words cost Depp his reputation and career, and film studios stopped working with him. A couple of years later, Johnny sued Heard for slander and demanded $50 million in compensation, and she filed a counterclaim for $100 million. The trial lasted six weeks, the entire world watched, and most viewers supported Depp. His ex-lovers Vanessa Paradis and Kate Moss also sided with him. Depp won the case, and Amber complained of bullying. Since then, the actress has moved to Madrid, is raising her daughter, and leads a private life. Depp is rumored to be dating Russian Yulia Vlasova.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star has now completed work on his next directorial project, Modigliani. The film, which premiered at the San Sebastian Film Festival last month, follows three turbulent days in the life of Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani.
