"This Is Beyond the Limit." Selena Gomez Responds to Body Shamers

Selena Gomez, who is often criticized for her appearance, said in her new interview with The Hollywood Reporter that she doesn't pay attention to body shamers.

"I don't really care. And I will never look the way they think I should look. It's just beyond the pale," she said.

The figure of 32-year-old Gomez often becomes a subject of discussion. The singer herself, who is periodically bullied online for her excess weight, stated that the changes in her appearance are related to health problems. She was previously diagnosed with an autoimmune disease - systemic lupus erythematosus. The artist underwent chemotherapy and a kidney transplant.

Gomez also touched on her long battle with the tabloids and paparazzi in the interview, noting that she now manages to keep her personal life a secret thanks to her friends outside of show business. "I mean, I have both. But I have my private life, my own places where I can go unnoticed."

At the same time, she has to put up with some things, like the public attention surrounding her affair with music producer Benny Blanco, with whom she was recently spotted on a date at a restaurant. In such cases, Selena admitted, she wraps a scarf around her face to prevent the paparazzi from getting good shots: "It's because I really love this restaurant! But other times, it's part of the job, and you just have to deal with it."

The singer was asked about her relationship with Blanco. Earlier, the star's boyfriend also came under fire. The public did not like that he was recognized as the most handsome man of the year. "I think I've never felt so protected before. I see a future with this man," Selena admitted.

Selena also said it "pisses me off" when people continue to see her as a victim after her illnesses and split from singer Justin Bieber. She says she was open about her experiences with fans in the hopes that "it would help someone" and "make people feel less alone." But she says she's been treated as a victim instead.

"People completely misunderstood what I was trying to say. There are those who like to call me a victim. And it's funny because what I've been through has made me incredibly strong. That always bothers me."
