Norwegian Crown Princess' Son Accused of Second Rape. Police Have Video

The son of the Norwegian Crown Princess, Marius Borg Høiby, has been charged with a second count of sexual assault, following the first. He faces up to 10 years in prison on these charges. Police are said to have video footage of at least one of the rapes, meaning Marius could face a real prison sentence.

On Wednesday evening, it became known that the court partially satisfied the police's request to detain Højby for two weeks. This is evidenced by the ruling of the Oslo District Court, issued on Wednesday evening. Marius will spend the next week in prison without the right to correspondence.

Marius' stepfather, Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, commented on the court's decision in an interview with Norwegian television channel NBC. "This is a serious charge for Marius. Today, of course, we are thinking about all the victims. The police have to do their job, the court has to do its job. I am sure that they will do everything very well. It is also true that this greatly affects us, those around us. Perhaps I will be allowed to add that I would like to be at home with Mette today. I miss her," Haakon said.

The son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, Marius Borg Hoeby, has been charged with several counts of sexual violence. The latest charge relates to an incident in August 2024, when police say he allegedly harmed a girl who was unconscious. He also violated a restraining order by continuing to have contact with the alleged victim, for which he was previously arrested in September. The other incidents include death threats, physical abuse and allegations of abuse against two ex-girlfriends who have given statements to police. So the number of charges against Marius could expand.

The cases have damaged the reputation of the royal family, although Marius is not officially a member of it, as he was born in a previous relationship between Mette-Marit and a Norwegian prince. Marius has admitted causing physical harm to the first victim, being under the influence of drugs, but denies other charges. Police are still investigating.
