69-year-old actor Denzel Washington has become a priest. He was baptized and received a license as a clergyman. This was reported by the publication Today.

The ceremony took place at the Kelly Temple Church of God in Christ, located in Harlem, New York. The First Jurisdiction Church of God in Christ Eastern New York broadcast the service live on Facebook*.

"I'm turning 70 in a week. It's taken a while, but here I am," he said. The actor has previously spoken about his attitude to religion and how he is steadfast in his beliefs, despite the fact that there are few religious people in Hollywood.

Denzel Washington is a two-time Oscar winner and was previously nominated for a Golden Globe for his supporting role in Gladiator 2. The awards ceremony will take place on January 5.
