Bruce Willis' daughter says dementia has made him less likely to recognize her.

The eldest daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore spoke about the condition of her 70-year-old father, who was diagnosed with dementia several years ago. On Instagram*, Rumer admitted that he doesn't always recognize her anymore.

"I'm so grateful that when I go up to him and hug him, whether he recognizes me or not, he still feels my love, and I feel his love in return. I still see a spark in him and appreciate every minute with him. I'm just grateful that I can be with him, feel his love and give mine," she said.

According to 36-year-old Rumer, talking about her father's condition always causes her internal conflict: people expect a simple and optimistic answer, but such frameworks are not suitable for describing his illness: "He's fine, if we're talking about someone with frontotemporal dementia. The only way I can answer this question is to say: 'He's doing great!' But such formulations, in my opinion, no longer reflect anything."

As a reminder, in addition to Rumer, Willis and Moore, who divorced in 2000, have adult daughters Scout and Tallulah, as well as a granddaughter, Louetta. Bruce also has two children with his second wife, Emma Heming.

In 2022, Bruce Willis retired from acting due to frontotemporal dementia, which impaired his ability to remember lines. The disease is progressive: the actor now barely speaks and has difficulty moving. In recent years, he was cared for by his current wife, Demi, and their daughters, but Heming recently moved into a separate home with her children. Many criticized her for this, but Emma publicly stated that she does not accept criticism from people who have not experienced a similar problem. Moore supported her. They later co-hosted a charity gala in Willis's honor.
