Kate Middleton explained why she went blonde amid rumors that she wears a wig due to a cancer relapse.

Kate Middleton, previously suspected of wearing a wig amid rumors of a cancer relapse, has commented on her style change for the first time. The Princess of Wales previously appeared in public with bleached hair.
"My hair used to be brown, but now it's sun-bleached," Middleton, 43, told actress Su Pollard backstage at the Royal Variety Performance charity show at the Royal Albert Hall, where she appeared accompanied by her husband, Prince William. Kate was responding to Pollard's comments about liking her lighter hair, according to the Daily Mail.
A natural brunette, Kate Middleton surprised the public when she appeared in public with blonde hair at the end of August. Many subsequently assumed the princess was wearing a wig due to a relapse of the cancer she was first diagnosed with a year and a half ago. These rumors intensified when Kate soon appeared in public with an unusually voluminous hairstyle. However, she later returned to her darker hair color.
In early 2024, Kate was hospitalized for a planned operation. Three months later, she released a video message announcing she had been diagnosed with cancer. That fall, the princess announced she had completed treatment and soon afterward returned to her royal duties. Kate Middleton and Prince William have been married since 2011 and have three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
