Influencer Chiara Ferragni faces 20 months in prison in a fraud case.
Influencer Chiara Ferragni, who found herself at the center of a scandal involving a Christmas charity event, faces up to 20 months in prison on fraud charges, WWD reported.
Today, the first hearing in the case took place, at which prosecutors requested a prison sentence of more than 1.5 years. According to media reports, her lawyer intends to seek acquittal. However, legal experts believe it's unlikely Ferragni will actually go to prison. The next hearing in the case will take place in December, but Ferragni herself claims to feel "confident."
As a reminder, in 2023, Ferragni was fined nearly €1.1 million for a charity event selling "Pandora" Christmas cakes. The baked goods were 2.5 times more expensive than regular ones, but Ferragni claimed all proceeds would go toward treating children with cancer. It was later revealed that her company, which had earned over €1 million from the project, had not made any contributions. She then claimed there had been a "communication error." It had previously been reported that she could face up to five years in prison.
At the same time, Chiara Ferragni spoke openly about the problems in her marriage to rapper Fedez (Federico Lucia). On Instagram*, she claimed that her husband had been unfaithful for years and even called another woman on their wedding day, promising to marry her. Chiara admitted that she kept silent for the sake of their children. Ferragni and Fedez met in late 2016 and became engaged in May 2017, marrying in Sicily on September 1, 2018. The couple has two children: six-year-old Leone and three-year-old Vittoria. Amid the scandal with Ferragni, it was announced that they had separated. Rumors surfaced in the winter that the influencer was dating Giovanni Tronchetti Provera, the heir to the famous Pirelli company. In August, Ferragni posted a photo with him, confirming the relationship.
