Angelina Jolie went topless and showed off her mastectomy scars.

Angelina Jolie posed topless for the cover of Time France, revealing her scars from the preventative mastectomy she underwent in 2013. In an interview with the magazine, the 50-year-old actress also discussed her new film, in which she plays a director with breast cancer.
"I share these scars with so many women I love. And it always touches me when I see other women sharing theirs. I wanted to join them," Jolie explained her decision to show the public her scars.
Jolie spoke about the film "Couture," in which she plays an American filmmaker diagnosed with breast cancer. She said the film's script felt like a "personal story" for her, as she, too, had "experienced hardship, illness, and pain." Jolie explained that she was drawn to the film's script because director Alice Winocour tells a story that "goes far beyond the journey of a sick person: it shows life." "It was this bright perspective that touched me and made me want to play this role," the actress noted.
Jolie also admitted that she wore jewelry containing her mother's ashes during filming. Marcheline Bertrand, as she recalled, battled ovarian cancer for a long time and died at the age of 56. Her story inspired Jolie to undergo a preventative double mastectomy, followed by the removal of her ovaries and fallopian tubes. Following each surgery, the actress wrote detailed columns about her experience for The New York Times.
"When I shared my experience, it was to encourage informed choices. Healthcare decisions should be personal, and women should have the information and support they need to make them. Access to screening and treatment should not be dependent on financial resources or location," Jolie told the magazine.
Angelina Jolie, already one of the most popular stars in world cinema, revealed her mastectomy in 2013, thereby drawing attention to the need for breast cancer screening. Experts say her decision had an unprecedented impact, dubbed the "Angelina effect": in France, it led to a 20% increase in screenings.
Jolie has been married three times. Her last husband was Brad Pitt, with whom she has six children (including three adopted children). The couple finally divorced in December 2024 amid a protracted dispute.
