"I wouldn't beg." Mickey Rourke criticized a rent fundraiser allegedly organized in his name.

Mickey Rourke posted a video message to his followers on Instagram*, sharply criticizing a fundraising campaign for him. Earlier, reports surfaced online that the 73-year-old actor had started a fundraiser to pay off his rent in Los Angeles.
In the video, Rourke appears wearing a pink T-shirt and a cowboy hat, holding his dog, Lucky. He stated that he was "upset" and "confused," and that he "doesn't understand" why someone would create a GoFundMe crowdfunding campaign in his name. "This isn't my initiative. If I needed money, I wouldn't beg. I'd rather stick a gun up my ass and pull the trigger," the actor remarked.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the campaign in question was created on January 4 by Leah-Joelle Jones, an assistant to Rourke's manager, Kimberly Hines. It was ostensibly created to help the actor stay in his home after he was served an eviction notice due to $60,000 in back rent. The ad claimed the fundraiser was created with "Mickey's full permission" and has so far raised over $100,000. However, in his video, Mickey called the campaign "shameful," adding, "But I'll get through this, like everything else."
It is clarified that Rourke did indeed receive a three-day eviction notice in late December. According to the Los Angeles Times, he failed to vacate the property within the specified timeframe, and the landlord filed a lawsuit seeking damages and legal fees.
At the end of his address, Rourke asked those who had already donated to return their money: "I wouldn't do that. I have too much pride."
Mickey Rourke rose to fame with films such as "Nine and a Half Weeks" and "Angel Heart." He is a Golden Globe and BAFTA winner and an Oscar nominee for "The Wrestler." He was also a professional boxer. He has been married twice, including relationships with Russian women. Rourke has no children. He has admitted to having undergone several plastic surgeries (the results of the most recent recently became a topic of online debate).
