Leonardo DiCaprio has become the "king of memes" thanks to a new viral video from the Golden Globes.

Leonardo DiCaprio became the subject of a viral video from the 2026 Golden Globe Awards ceremony, which took place recently in Los Angeles. Online, the 51-year-old actor is now being dubbed the new "meme king," replacing Ben Affleck, who previously held this unofficial title.
The Oscar winner attended the star-studded event alongside the cast and crew of his acclaimed film "Battle by Battle," which ultimately won Best Picture. And although DiCaprio himself lost to his younger rival, Timothée Chalamet, he didn't seem upset.
At one point, the actor unexpectedly became the center of attention, exhibiting uncharacteristic behavior on camera. The video captured the typically reserved DiCaprio suddenly becoming animated during a commercial break, gesturing wildly and miming a dialogue with an unseen person at a nearby table. He gestured to his eyes, then to the person off-camera, indicating he was "watching" them, before playfully covering his mouth with his finger and laughing.
Online lip readers quickly deciphered DiCaprio's sudden "pantomime": one theory is that the actor was communicating with his co-star Chase Infinity and "discussing" K-pop with her: the actress is allegedly a fan of the genre, and shortly before, the film "K-Pop Demon Hunters" won an award at a ceremony.
Meanwhile, DiCaprio's fans are discussing the video. "I'm melting with admiration. I've never seen him so emotional in public," "It's a truly historic moment to see him like this," and "I need to know what happened," fans write.
Meanwhile, social networks are already filled with memes featuring DiCaprio from the Golden Globes.
DiCaprio's reaction video wasn't the only curious moment from his appearance at the ceremony. The evening's host joked from the stage about his love for young models. DiCaprio's conversation with fellow actor Julia Roberts also sparked online discussion.
Interestingly, DiCaprio has previously been the subject of a Golden Globes meme. In 2016, his reaction to Lady Gaga's appearance was discussed online.
