The first photo of Sophie Turner as Lara Croft has appeared online.
The first photo of Sophie Turner in her recognizable Lara Croft role for the new Tomb Raider franchise has surfaced online. Previously, the role was played by Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander.
In a photo posted by Amazon MGM Studios on Instagram*, the Game of Thrones star poses in the character's classic costume: a turquoise tank top, short shorts, fingerless gloves, and glasses with red lenses.
In an interview, Turner admitted that to prepare for the role, she plays video games and reads comics about Lara Croft, but deliberately avoids films with other actresses in order to create a unique image of the Tomb Raider.
As a reminder, the series was written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag, Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny). The cast also includes Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon, and Bill Paterson. Filming begins this month, but a release date has not yet been announced.
