London Fashion Week: King Charles III attended his first fashion show, immediately after the arrest of his brother, former Prince Andrew.
London Fashion Week kicked off with a show by British-Nigerian brand Tolu Coker. King Charles III attended the fashion show just hours after the arrest of his brother, former Prince Andrew.
The monarch's arrival at the show was kept secret until the very end. The King, wearing a gray suit and tie, entered the hall with British Fashion Council CEO Laura Weir, sat in the front row with fashion designer and Paul McCartney's daughter Stella, and appeared to be in good spirits. This was Charles III's first visit to Fashion Week. Before the show, he toured McCartney's exhibition dedicated to sustainable British innovation, and afterwards, he chatted with the brand's founder, Tolu Cocker, and other young designers.
King Charles III's decision to attend Fashion Week was no accident. His foundation supports young designers in mastering traditional fashion skills, including sewing, embroidery, hat-making, and many others. Previously, Charles's mother, Queen Elizabeth II, had attended Fashion Week. In 2018, she and Anna Wintour attended Richard Quinn's show, after which she presented him with the inaugural Queen's Award for British Design.
As a reminder, yesterday, the King's younger brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, was arrested by police on suspicion of abuse of office due to his ties to billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. He was released from custody after 12 hours of questioning.
