Lerchek began chemotherapy: new footage from the hospital
Luis Squicciarini, the boyfriend of blogger Lerchek, who is under house arrest and was diagnosed with stage four stomach cancer immediately after the birth of her fourth child, announced that she had begun chemotherapy. On his Instagram*, the Argentine dancer shared new photos from the hospital.
Despite the painful procedures that Squicchiarini captured on video, Lerchek (real name: Valeria Chekalina) remains optimistic and, with a smile, thanks everyone who is currently worried about her. "I'm in great spirits! Everything will be fine, with this kind of support! I feel the support of the whole world," she said in one of the videos.
It's worth noting that Chekalina is being treated at a state-run medical facility because, according to her relatives, after all her accounts were frozen, the blogger has no funds left for a private clinic. According to RIA Novosti, this may be the Blokhin Oncology Center.
As a reminder, Luis Squicciarini himself previously revealed that 33-year-old Lerchek had been diagnosed with cancer. After the blogger gave birth to a son in late February, doctors were concerned about the condition of her placenta. Valeria was sent for histological examination twice, and both times the tests confirmed a malignant tumor with metastases in the lungs, legs, and spine. Lerchek had been complaining of poor health for a year, and her lawyers had asked investigators to allow her to see a doctor, but their request was denied. Incidentally, some at the time suspected she might be faking her illness to secure a deferment or mitigation of her sentence, and they criticized her online. Nadezhda Strelets recently spoke about this, emphasizing that Chekalina's diagnosis is the fault of every hater.
Lerchek and her ex-husband, Artyom Chekalin, are accused of illegally transferring more than 250 million rubles abroad. The couple divorced in the summer of 2024 and are raising three children together. According to investigators, the bloggers earned millions by selling online courses and fitness marathons and transferred the money to the UAE using forged documents. While awaiting a court ruling, which could face 5 to 10 years in prison, the Chekalins are under house arrest and are prohibited from communicating with each other.
