Meghan Markle is returning to film.

Meghan Markle is ready to return to acting after a seven-year hiatus, according to the Duchess's longtime friend, casting director Eliza Roberts, who told the Daily Mail.

Roberts relayed to reporters her conversation with Meghan at a charity event last week. According to the Duchess's friend, Markle is currently planning to resume her acting career: "I think she'll come back. It's time."

Eliza also revealed that Meghan left Suits in 2017 because the royal family was concerned about the "overly sexual" portrayal of the prince's bride on the show. To avoid damaging her relationship with her future relatives, Markle refused to appear on the show.

As a reminder, Prince Harry met Meghan Markle in 2016. At the time, the actress had only one highly successful project in her portfolio—the series "Suits." After her engagement to the prince in 2017, Markle gave up filming to devote herself entirely to wedding preparations and the royal family's charitable projects.

In 2020, Harry and Meghan announced they were stepping back from royal duties. The couple then moved to the United States and started their own business. Harry and Meghan are currently developing Archewell Productions, a production company that is currently developing a film adaptation of Canadian author Carly Fortune's novel "Meet Me by the Lake." It's possible that Meghan will return to acting for this project.

Meghan also owns a home goods brand, As Ever. However, the company is currently going through a rough patch: it was recently announced that Netflix, which helped Meghan promote the brand, has terminated its contract with As Ever and is canceling the Duchess of Sussex's cooking show, "Love, Meghan," due to low ratings. According to insiders, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos is "simply tired" of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
